Melbourne's First Landcare Expo was held on Saturday April 18th, 2009
On a beautiful autumn day in Melbourne approximately 1,500 people met at Caulfield Race Course.
The EXPO was:
- 55 Landcare groups and partners groups from across Victoria
- The audience was the general public of Melbourne
- People shared breakfast, stories, knowledge and information
- Traditional culture and landcare knowledge was recognised
- Joan Kirner and Shanaka Fernando provided inspiring addresses
- Landcarers talked about caring for Victoria's natural resources
- New connections and networks were instigated; ideas were swapped
- City people saw how sustainable production really happens
- The Landcare expo marked a new, bold beginning
The Expo delivered on the commitment to action from the 2008 Victorian Landcare Forum at Creswick.
