Mission Statement Advance Landcare in Victoria by providing support, effective communications and state-wide standards for Victorian landcare professionals and workers whilst recognising and advocating the importance of community Landcare. GOALS OF THE NETWORK Support Promote the essential role of Landcare professionals and workers to the Landcare movement. Represent and advocate on behalf of Landcare and Landcare professionals and workers in relation to natural resource management policy development. Provide support for Landcare professionals and workers many of whom work in isolation. Campaign for the recognition of Employed Landcare Positions as professional positions. Communication Provide effective information transfer between State and Regional platforms. Provide a forum where issues & concerns of Landcare professionals and workers can be discussed, actioned and resolved. Be pro-active on emerging Landcare issues and concerns. Encourage members to be innovative, to keep up to date and communicate new technology Maintain a state-wide database of Landcare professionals and workers State-wide Standards Develop and endorse state standards in HR issues eg. OH&S, employment conditions. Present a uniform Landcare image throughout the State. Develop and improve Landcare in Victoria. Operations The Victorian Landcare Network meets every 2 months, and regularly communicates via email with over 200 members. The Network has an email list for members. This list provides information for Landcare employees on Landcare issues, events and activities around the state. Attached are the three surveys conducted between 2003 and 2007. These make an interesting read and there are important recommendations made that need to be actioned.
