Volunteer Action Training

Looking for ways to motivate, encourage and recruit Landcare volunteers? Then training sessions run by The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) can help. The sessions, being held throughout Victoria in March, are part of DSE’s Landcare Volunteer Recruitment Initiative (VRI).

VRI was established as part of DSE’s Landcare program to increase the capacity of organisations and volunteers in delivering environmental outcomes by attracting and building partnerships between Landcare and different sectors of community -- urban, youth, Indigenous etc.

These training sessions will provide Landcare members and support staff with some new tips and a better understanding of attracting and retaining volunteers in the current environment.

To put this training into practice, groups can apply for small grants of $1000 - $5000.  For more info on the Small grants please click here.

 Topics covered in the training

  • Generations and change – characteristics of generations and ways to attract them to volunteering
  • The 4 Rs of Volunteering – Recruitment, Recognition, Reward and Renewal
  • Applying for volunteering grants
  • Overview of VRI
  • Strategies for recruiting volunteers
  • Developing a proposal for a small volunteering grant workshop

Training is free and lunch will be provided. Numbers at some sessions may be limited.

Training, from 10am to 4pm, will be in:

  • Werribee on 3 March
  • Camperdown on 4 March
  • Horsham on 5 March
